Selling digital downloads

Your Downloads library holds the files you use in lessons and the files you sell. How to reach the page now that it is not a menu row, uploading, listing a file in the public Downloads catalogue with a price, how students get it, and managing your files.

Downloads is your personal file library. The same files serve two purposes: media you use in lessons and as cover images, and products you sell as downloads in the school's public Downloads catalogue. The page is no longer a row in the menu; you open it from the editors.

Opening the Downloads page

You rarely need this page for everyday work: the editors let you upload a file, or pick one you uploaded before, right where you use it. Open Downloads when you want to see all your files in one place, tidy them up, or sell one.

Uploading files

  1. Step 1: Choose Upload asset

Drag files in or browse. Up to 20 files at once; they upload one by one.

  2. Step 2: Choose what it is for

Media library / downloads: reusable files that can be listed and sold. Course media: files for lessons; videos are converted for streaming and never listed in the store.

  3. Step 3: Decide on the catalogue

List in the public Downloads catalog (you can set a price later) is ticked by default for downloads. Untick it for files you only use in lessons.

  4. Step 4: Add details (optional)

A description for the whole upload (up to 1000 characters) and a display name per file (up to 200).

  5. Step 5: Choose Upload

Each row shows its progress. Retry failed retries files that failed.

  • Search by name, type or link; filter by type (Video, File) and origin (Media Library, Lesson). Switch between grid and list.
  • Each file's menu: Preview asset, Edit product details, Open original, Copy link and Delete asset.
  • Select several files to Copy URLs, Export CSV or Delete them together.
  • Lessons and live classes pick files from this library with Browse Library (the latest 10 files).

Limits

  • Your school's plan may cap total video storage and the number of products (courses, bundles, live classes and listed downloads together).
  • Selling downloads must be included in your school's plan.
  • Web page, SVG and script files are stored as plain downloads, not shown in the browser.

FAQ

Can other teachers use my files?

No. The library shows only files you uploaded.

Can I give a student a download for free?

Set the item's price to free, or ask NSDP administration to grant access.

Is there a file size limit?

Video storage is capped by your school's plan. Other limits depend on how your school stores files.

Where did Downloads go in the menu?

It is no longer a menu row. Open it from Manage media, Asset Library or Media Library inside the editors; see Opening the Downloads page above. Your files are all still there.

Why is a cover image I uploaded in an editor in my library?

Files you upload inside the editors are saved to your library too, so you can use them again.
