If you have forgotten your password — or never had one — you can set a new one yourself by email. If you only need to get in quickly, an email code on the sign-in page works without a password.
Resetting your password, step by step
Step 1: Choose Forgot password? on the sign-in page
Sign in to open this screenStep 2: Enter your email and choose Email me a reset link
For your privacy the page always says "If an account exists for that address, a reset link is on its way", whether or not the email has an account.
Step 3: Open the email and choose the reset button
The link works once and expires after 60 minutes. Asking for another link cancels the earlier ones.
Step 4: Choose a new password and type it again
The button stays disabled until the password has at least 8 characters and both boxes match.
Step 5: Sign in with the new password
Password rules and the strength meter
| Check | Required? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| At least 8 characters | Yes | Longer is better; 12 or more adds to the strength score. |
| Upper and lower case letters | No, recommended | Counts towards the meter. |
| A number or symbol | No, recommended | Counts towards the meter. |
| Not too long | Yes | Keep it to 72 characters or fewer so the sign-in form accepts it. |
The meter shows Weak, Fair, Good or Strong. Any password that meets the required checks is accepted, but a Good or Strong one is much harder to guess.
What happens after a reset
- You are signed out on every device, so anyone using your old password is logged out.
- You receive an email confirming that the password was set. If you didn't ask for that, contact your school or NSDP support straight away.
- Email-code sign-in keeps working as before.
Campus accounts
Limits
- Reset links last 60 minutes and work once.
- Several reset requests for the same email within a minute are paused: "Too many … Please try again in N seconds."
- Only active accounts get a link. A deactivated account can't reset its password — contact your school.
Troubleshooting
The page says the reset link is invalid or has expired.
The link was already used, is older than 60 minutes, or a newer link was requested. Request a new one and use the newest email.
The email never arrives.
Check Spam, Junk and Promotions and the spelling of your email. If you still get nothing, the address may not have an active account at this school; ask your school or NSDP support.
It says "This account is not active."
The account has been deactivated. Only your school can reactivate it.
I'm a teacher. Where do I change my password when I remember it?
Use Forgot password to set a new one; it works whether or not you remember the old one.
Do I lose my progress or data when I reset?
No. Only the password changes, and you are signed out of other devices.
